Atarax Chemical Contents :
Hydroxyzine HCl, Hydroxyzine diHCl).
Atarax Uses :
Symptomatic, relief of anxiety & tension associated with psycho neurosis & as an adjunct in organic disease in which anxiety is manifested; Generalized Anxiety Disorders (GAD). Useful in management of pruritus due to allergic conditions for example chronic urticaria, atopic & contact dermatoses & in histamine-mediated pruritus.
Atarax Dosage :
Adult & children greater than/above 10 years 50- 100 milligram, 6-10 years 30-60 milligram, 1-5 years 20-30 milligram, 6 months-1 years 10-15 milligram. To be given daily in divided doses.
Atarax Contraindications :
Previous hypersensitivity to cetirizine, other piperazine derivatives, aminophylline or ethylenediamide. Porphyria; preganacy & lactation.
Atarax Special Precautions :
Glaucoma, bladber outflow obstruction, decreased gastrointestinal motility, myasthenia gravis, dementia, predisposition to cardiac arrhythmia or concomitant treatment with potentially arrythmogenic drug, hepatic dysfunction, moderate or severe renal impairment. Children; elderly. Concomitant use of alcohol or central nervous system depressanta. Avoid operating vehicles or machinery.
Atarax Adverse Reactions :
Sedation, somnolence, dizziness, dry mouth, urinary retention. Rarely, tremor, convulsions.
Atarax Drug Interactions :
Alcohol, central nervous system depressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitor(s), betahistine, anticholinesterase drugs.
