Why is this drug prescribed: Hydergine helps relieve symptoms of declining mental capacity, thought to be related to aging or dementia, seen in some people over age 60. The symptoms include reduced understanding and motivation, and a decline in self-care and interpersonal skills.
Most important fact about this drug: It may take several weeks or more for Hydergine to produce noticeable results. In fact, your doctor may need up to 6 months to determine whether the drug is right for you. Keep taking your regular doses even if you feel no effect.
How should you take this medication: Take Hydergine exactly as prescribed. --If you miss a dose... Skip the dose you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once. If you miss 2 or more doses in a row, consult your doctor. --Storage instructions... Store at room temperature. Protect from heat and light. Do not freeze capsules or oral solution.
What side effects may occur: Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, notify your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine whether it is safe to continue taking Hydergine. Side effects may include: Stomach upset, temporary nausea
